What to Expect

Laying the Foundation for Total Health

Chiropractic care is like building a house - certain things have to happen in a particular order in order for everything to stand strong and work correctly. When building a house, if you tried to put up your walls before you had a solid foundation, your walls would be weak and eventually collapse. If you tried to put on your roof before the walls were ready, you would run into the same problem. The same is true for your body. Your body has to go through a particular plan of care in order to repair itself correctly and fully. There are three general phases of chiropractic care:

Phase 1: Relief Care

If you are in pain when you come into our office, the first objective is to help you feel better. Depending on the severity of your problem, it is typical to need care two to three times per week for four to 12 weeks.

Phase 2: Corrective/Restorative Care

During the corrective care phase, muscles and other tissues are allowed to heal more completely, thereby helping prevent injury. It is typical to need care four to eight times per month for six to 24 months, depending on your overall health and the severity of your problem.

Phase 3: Wellness Care

Once your body has fully healed, it is important to come in for periodic adjustments to avoid problems in the future. Usually, this only requires a quick visit to the chiropractor one to four times per month, based on your lifestyle and goals.

Your First Visit

On your first visit you will fill out the New Patient History Forms. When complete you will sit with the doctor and go over your health history and concerns. Dr. Sue will then do a comprehensive chiropractic examination and evaluation. This will include tests such as evaluating posture in different positions, muscle testing, orthopedic tests and neurological tests. Dr. Sue will then palpate and feel the bones of your spine (while you are fully clothed) in order to determine the overall condition of your spine and the best protocols to put into place. The spine is the communication hub for the body and proper function is critical to restoring lasting health.

The first visit is by far the longest and is necessary to determine the appropriate course of action to restore you to health as quickly as possible. We schedule one hour for each new patient. This gives you a chance to discuss your concerns and together choose a plan of action. After we determine if chiropractic adjustments are appropriate for you, I will also adjust you on the first visit.

On subsequent visits, I will spend more time with you than most chiropractors. I strongly believe this is necessary for high quality care and proper education as to how the care is implemented and expected to improve your health. I do not simply adjust patients and send them out the door. I check the work that I have done and assure that you are going to hold your adjustment before you leave. You will receive the time and attention you deserve.

Here’s what some of my patients have to say :

  • "I began chiropractic care with Dr. Sue a year ago because of an auto accident. After a few chiropractic adjustments, education, and proper exercise, I have noticed a huge difference in my attitude and how I feel. I have adopted chiropractic care into my wellness program."
    Maya
  • "I met Dr. Sue at a point in time when my 61-year old body needed immediate healthcare if I were to keep up with my daily 3 mile walk, 3 days of half-hour aerobics, and 3 dance clubs (Western, Ballroom, and Line). Her expertise at finding my many problems with the neck, shoulders, arms, and legs – and then physically nurturing these areas to ease my discomfort is phenomenal! God bless Dr. Sue for all the good she does for patients like me."
    Anne
  • "I have been going to LeBlanc Chiropractic for five years. Throughout my life I have had trouble with pain in my hip from early years of youth football. Since my adjustments with Dr. Sue, I have had no pain in my hip. Also, my treatments have increased my benchpress and my ability to jog. I am pleased to say I have been well taken care of."
    Emile

Simon and Garfunkel [and later, The Bangles] had it right. Winter light is hazy - it's more diffuse. And of course, there's less sunlight during each 24-hour day of winter than during the rest of the ...
